Manual check-ins

Use manual check-ins when a person needs to confirm that a recurring task was completed.

How it works

A manual monitor creates a shareable check-in page. The recipient does not need a Cronity account: they open the link, optionally complete the configured fields, and press “Confirm check-in.” The result is recorded as a successful monitor event.

Configure the expectation

SettingOptions
FrequencyHourly, every six hours, daily, or weekly
Expected timeUsed for daily and weekly schedules
Expected weekdayUsed for weekly schedules
Grace periodExtra minutes after the expected time before the check-in is missed
TimezoneControls when the local expected time occurs

Like a Cron monitor, the state becomes Late when the expected time arrives and Fail after the grace period expires without a confirmation. A later confirmation recovers it.

Collect structured values

Leave “Fields to collect” empty for a one-button confirmation, or add fields for useful context. Available types are short text, long text, number, and checkbox. Field keys are normalized and deduplicated when the monitor is created.

  • Short text values are limited to 200 characters in the public form.
  • Long text values are limited to 2,000 characters.
  • Only fields defined on the monitor are accepted from the public form.
  • Submitted values are stored as event metrics, so they can appear in report previews.

Alerts and reports

Enable immediate failure alerts to notify assigned integrations when a check-in is missed. Success alerts and on-demand alerts for manual monitors require Pro or Business. “Include in daily digest” makes the monitor eligible for generated reports.

The check-in URL contains the monitor’s unguessable public identifier and acts as the credential. Share it only with people who should be able to record confirmations. Pausing the monitor disables the page until it is resumed.
